The Kindness Manifesto

Yoga and Kindness in Salzburg, Austria

Hi there!

The Kindness Manifesto was born out of a deeply unsettling experience I had while witnessing an act of bullying during a yoga workshop. This incident disturbed me profoundly. I had always believed that the yoga community would be more welcoming, open, and kind. What I learned, however, is that practicing yoga doesn't automatically make someone a better person (though I do know many amazing, loving yogis).

I truly believe that every situation is an opportunity to understand each other better instead of passing judgment. Every act of kindness, no matter how small, is more valuable than you might imagine.

Until next time, keep breathing and stay hydrated! ✨

Love, Gregor

The kindness manifesto

We who have suffered we see
the suffering in each other
like a song it calls us home
to a past we don’t belong to anymore

We who have suffered we know
how it feels, how deep a mindless word can cut
and we carry the scars as souvenirs of our journey

We who have suffered are aware
that the pain makes us beautiful
– others feel drawn to it.
It’s easier to be a saviour than to ask for help.

We who have suffered we could sing a song of sorrow
but we stay silent and don’t pass it on.
It’s not our time to cry.

We have worked the secret rituals of healing,
we’ve made our sacrifices to recollect the broken pieces
and build a new home.

Now others are in the dark lamenting.

We who have suffered know and we know the pain
and from the generosity of a mended heart
we offer an embrace.

And blessed are those who still have a wound to care for.
Everyone is on a journey you know nothing about.

Be kind.
Always.
